Weathering the Storm

by Caitlin Ricci

WeatheringtheStormRobbie’s dad has always been hard on Robbie and his brothers, but when their mom dies on Robbie’s sixteenth birthday, he becomes downright abusive. Robbie doesn’t understand why his dad is so mean to him or why his brothers resent him for their mom’s accident, but he desperately tries to hide the bruises. On top of that, after his dad’s horse training jobs run out, he moves them to Colorado to their uncle’s ranch in the mountains.

At Uncle Caleb’s cabin, Robbie meets Sam, a boy whose family also lives on the property. Finally he has a real friend who shares his love of horses, but Sam is black and openly gay. Both traits incur Robbie’s father’s rage. When his dad attacks Robbie in front of Uncle Caleb for standing up for Sam and himself, all of their secrets are thrown out into the open, and Robbie’s life is changed forever.

Two New Releases from P.D. Singer!

PrepWork200x300Exhausted after eating his way through the local cuisines in the back of beyond, celebrity chef Jude Marshall ditches his camera crew during a London layover. He’s ready for a beer and plain, familiar food, the sort a random pub could provide. What’s this artfully presented dish where plain pea soup should be? Parsley? Really? Demonstrating his lack of a brain to mouth filter earns him a glower from his server—and a visit from chef Tommy Bell, a fan of both Jude’s show and his cooking.

Maybe signing Tommy’s copy of Jude’s cookbook will make amends for his lack of tact. The unexpected arrival of picky diners puts Tommy behind in the kitchen. Jude wants to lend a hand, for the joy of cooking and Tommy’s smile.

Stumbling into this gastro-pub might be the best mistake Jude’s ever made.

NewMan[A]FSSenior year of college is for studying, partying, and having fun before getting serious about life. Instead, Chad’s days are filled with headaches and exhaustion, and his fencing skills are getting worse with practice, not better. Then there’s his nonexistent love life, full of girls he’s shunted to the friend zone. Is he asexual? Gay?

Grad student Warren Douglas could be out clubbing, but his roommate is better company, even without kisses. He’s torn up watching Chad suffer, gobbling ibuprofen and coming home early on Friday nights. If Chad weren’t straight, Warren would keep him up past midnight. They’re great as friends. Benefits might answer Chad’s questions.

A brief encounter with lab rats reveals Chad’s illness—he needs surgery, STAT, and can’t rely on his dysfunctional parents for medical decisions. Warren’s both trustworthy and likely to get overruled—unless they’re married. “You can throw me back later,” Warren says, and he may throw himself back after his husband turns out moody and hard to get along with, no matter how much fun his new sex drive is. Surgery turns Chad into a new man, all right…

…but Warren fell in love with the old one.

Available for Pre-Order: Fire & Rain, by Carter Quinn

Available January 27

Fire-Rain_book-cover_FINALEric Walker has learned hard lessons from his past. He’s no longer the alcoholic husband hiding in the closet. He’s no longer the guy who tried to steal his brother’s boyfriend. He has two items on his agenda: fix his relationship with his brother, Jason, and find his own soul mate. But when it comes to relationships, Eric’s track record looks more like a train wreck. He craves intimacy almost as much as he fears reverting to his old ways.

Johnny Osborne has watched Eric mature over the last year and a half and has fallen in love with him in the process. He’s tried being patient, but it’s gotten him nowhere. No matter how many disastrous blind dates Johnny sets Eric up on, Eric seems determined to consider everyone but the man who’s been right in front of him all along.

Eric and Johnny aren’t the only ones struggling with their emotions. After his apartment burns down, their coworker, Travis, can’t choose between the guy he’s been crushing on and the guy he’s afraid to love. He seems determined to re-enact every blunder of Eric’s past. Will Travis learn from Eric’s mistakes before the man who loves him walks away for good? Will Eric ever see that best friends make the best lovers?

Backlist Bonanza: Authors off the Shelf (Charity Anthology)

Authors off the ShelfA collection of works by various Lazy Beagle Entertainment authors donated for charity.
Too many people of all ages are constantly bullied. This needs to stop and for this reason, 25% of the proceeds from all sales of this book will go directly to the It Gets Better Project.

Far too many people are committing suicide because of the way they are treated, bullied and simply because of their sexuality for various reasons and causes. For this reason, 25% of the proceeds from all sales of this book will go directly to The Trevor Project.

I have watched a few too many friends and even strangers suffer because of HIV and AIDS and even more pass away, their lives cut short by an illness that ravages everything it touches. For this reason, 25% of the proceeds from all sales of this book will go directly to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

A good many of our authors, including us here at Lazy Beagle Entertainment, have pets of all types. Every single pet that Rondal and I (Patrick) have ever had has been a rescue from one source or another. We view our pets as living beings, not things to be owned or possessed though they possess our love and hearts and us theirs. Lazy Beagle Entertainment was named such because of our twin Beagle Boys named Archie Goodwin and Nero Wolfe. Archie passed away on March 9, 2013 after a five year battle from complications due to cancer. Animals are children in a way and we view them as such. No animal deserves to be treated cruelly or like a possession. For this reason, 25% of the proceeds from all sales of this book will go directly to The Humane Society of the United States.

All 100% of the proceeds from the sales of this book will be going directly to these four charities. None of the authors, Lazy Beagle Entertainment, Rondal or Patrick will receive any profit. (Unfortunately we can’t stop the companies selling the book from receiving a profit when they sell the book.) You may also donate directly to these charities by accessing their websites.
